NFL QB #3 NFL Draft

Deshone Kiser

6’4  230LBS

Notre Dame

Strengths

First thing you notice when watching Deshone Kiser is his size. He is a big boy. He has that NFL QB size scouts drool over. He also has a big arm. This guy can really throw it. He is also a guy who is a good decision maker. He isn’t a guy who is going to take many risks, he makes the right play. He is also a good athlete. So all of the physical tools are there. He has also shown great deep ball accuracy and has flashed deadly accuracy. He can get really hot and throw darts. Overall as a prospect he is a guy who has a lot of the physical tools needed to exceed in the NFL. He is a guy who has things you can’t teach.

Weaknesses

First thing that gives me cause for concern is his footwork. It is very inconsistent and needs to be worked on but it is something that is fixable. His pocket presence is my biggest concern. He doesn’t have great awareness for where is in the pocket, and he can get “lost” within the pocket and drop his eyes. His field vision is also not great. He isn’t great at reading defenses, but the bigger concern is he rarely gets to his third read and at times he stares down his target. My last concern is Football IQ. He isn’t great at reading defenses and he seems to process the defense at a slower pace compared to Watson and Trubisky and seems to get confused at times.

Overall

This guy has a ton of potential. He can be one of those Big Ben, Carson Wentz type of QB’s who are big athletic guys with big arms. But he needs to keep developing his game. He has the highest ceiling but lowest floor in terms of Qb’s in the NFL draft.
