Lamar Jackson Scouting Report

Strengths

Lamar Jackson is a special talent. When you watch him, you tend to sit back and just say “wow”. What stands out when watching Jackson is his dynamic playmaking ability. Whether with his cannon of an arm or running ability like nothing I’ve ever seen, he really made college defensive coordinator have a hard time sleeping. So what are his strengths? The first thing that jumps off the screen is his electrifying speed. You can’t let him escape the pocket because if you do, it’s like a running back in the open field. But he is isn’t just a runner, he can throw the Ball with effectiveness. He has a huge arm, and uses it to make big time throws down the field. His mechanics and accuracy have also improved dramatically. With the type of athlete Jackson is, I wouldn’t bet against him.

Weakness

Although Jackson is a hell of a talent, he does have his issues. While his accuracy is certainly better, he tends to overthrow the ball pretty frequently. But the biggest concern I have is his accuracy and mechanical breakdown when facing pressure. When pressure is in his face, he returns back to his old, broken mechanics. He gets scared when facing pressure, and that scares the death out of me. Outside of that, I think he is a pretty clean prospect, he just needs to continue to improve his accuracy, anticipation and field vision.
