Biggest surprises and disappointments of the NFL

Surprises:

Rams: Who saw this coming? I thought under mcVay, the Rams would gradually improve and hopefully go 8-8 this year. Nope. They are 11-4 and have the best offense in the league. Jared goff is a new man, Todd Gurley is an MVP candidate, and the defense and special teams are both overachieving. They are a well coached team, and the players love McVay. They have fun. And it’s refreshing.

Case Keemun: Case Keenan leading the Vikings to a first round bye? This season is weird guys. He has been great. Him and Adam Theilin have developed such great chemistry, and with that defense, they have a legit shot at the super bowl. Which is crazy considering the injuries, and it all starts with Keemun.

Jets: everyone had them penciled in at 0-1. While they are not great, 5-10 I think, they blew the expectations of their season out of the water. Credit has to be given to Todd Bowles for getting his players to play hard and the players for overachieving.

Carson wentz: Wow. He is unreal. Everyone knew he would be good but no one knew he would be this good:

Disappointments:

Giants: what a horrible season. Not only are they 2-13, but they have had 3 suspensions, head coach and GM fired, eli benched and then back to started, players calling out other players, and overall just a mess. Hardest year as a Giants fan of my life and their is only one word that can describe their season. Dysfunctional.

Raiders: Again, what happened? They were so good last year, the young and upcoming team. They added lynch. They looked like real contenders to the patriots and Steelers. Instead, penalties continued to bite them, the defense was soft, the receivers hands( COOPER WTF) and Derek Carr taking a major step back. Del Rio gotta go.

Buccaneers: the issues with the bucs and raiders are intertwined. Struggling young QB, struggling star receiver, soft defense, poorly coached. Dirk Koetter is as good as gone.

Falcons offense: Matt ryan and the offense look like a shell of themselves.

Injuries: just take a look at this list. This year has been rough on stars guys, no wonder the games are boring there is no star power!

Forgetting guys like Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor. The amount of injuries are insane and it’s a major problem. It has been a shadow over his whole NFL season

Week 15 picks

Aaron Rodgers back? Steelers vs Patriots? Rams vs Seahawks? What a great week of football.

NFL week 14 picks

I know it has been awhile, but I’m here now to deliver some picks for the NFL this week.

Vikings vs panthers: I really want to pick the Vikings to go on the road and beat the panthers but I can’t. Cam Newton will have a nice game, and the panthers will find a way to win in a low scoring affair.

Panthers 20 – Vikings 16 Panthers +2.5

Bears vs bengals: It’s been nothing but bad for the bears lately. They will continue to struggle as the bengals are desperate.

Bengals 23 – bears 20 Bears +6

Colts vs bills: Nathan peterman is going to be starting for the bills. We saw how that went last time. They need to rely on McCoy and pray that peterman doesn’t throw the game.

Colts 24 – bills 21 Colts +3

Packers vs browns: BREAKING NEWS. I think the browns win. Don’t @ me

Browns 27 – packers 23 Browns +2.5

Raiders vs chiefs: the chiefs are just a bad football team. There defense is horrible. Without Marcus peters, I don’t see the chiefs stopping anyone. Raiders in a shootout.

Raiders 35 – chiefs 31 Raiders +5

Cowboys vs Giants: I want to pick the Giants. I really do. They aren’t going to win. Sorry.

Cowboys 28 – Giants 24 Cowboys -3.5

Lions vs Buccaneers: the lions are for sure the better football team, but with staffords injury and their struggles recently, I’m going with the home team.

Bucs 21 – lions 17 Bucs +1

49ers vs Texans: I’m going to take the road team. The Texans defense can’t stop anyone so expect a big day from Hyde.

49ers 23 – Texans 16 49ers +2

Jets vs broncos: take the jets. Period. And start Robby Anderson.

Jets 24 – broncos 13 Jets -1

Titans vs cardinals: I like the Titans to go to Arizona and win just because.

Titans 31 – Cardinals 27 Titans -2.5

Chargers 38 – redskins 28 Chargers -6

Eagles vs Rams: Goff vs Wentz. I’ll take uhhhhhh wentz in a close one.

Seahawks vs Jaguars: before the year, this was looked at as an easy win. Now? Not so much. Seahawks CLOSE.

Seahawks 17 – Jaguars 16 Seahawks +2.5

NFL week 10 picks

Packers Vs bears: would advise watching this game. The packers can’t move the ball and the bears don’t throw the ball, although they do play good defense. Bears in a low scoring game.

Bears 17- packers 10

Chargers vs jaguars: the Jaguars defense is too good. The chargers will fall behind and then have to pass their way back into the game. Considering how good the jags defense is, good luck rivers.
Jaguars 23 – chargers 13

Vikings vs redskins: the redskins are coming off a nice win in Seattle. They have Trent Williams back as well. Eversom griffin is out so give me the redskins.

Redskins 24 – Vikings 20

Texans vs rams: with Watson out for the year, the Texans season is over. Rams will have a day on offense.

Rams 34 – Texans 16

Giants vs 49ers: both these defenses suck. Both these offenses suck. Not gonna be fun.

49ers 20 – Giants 17

Saints vs bills: I love the saints run game and now that dareus is in Jacksonville, expect big days from kamara and Ingram. But I’m not picking against the bills at home.

Bills 30 – saints 27

Browns vs lions: start Stafford and the wide receivers for the lions.

Lions 28 – browns 17

Steelers vs colts: this game will be close for a little, but this colts defense is too bad.

Patriots 31 – broncos 10

NBA thoughts so far

  • Its not working out with the thunder.  The thunder have the talent but they all are  dragging each other down. There is one ball and 3 guys who needs to ball a lot to be effective. They need to figure it out and fast.

  • The Cavs will be fine and will make the finals, but have zero shot vs the Warriors. They didn’t have a shot last year because of poor defense and bad three point shooting. None of the players they added are either young, helped them on defense, or helped them space the floor. They will have a tough time with C’s as well. Unless they can use the Nets pick to get another star who helps their needs *Cough cough Demarcus Cousins* then they are in no better position, if not worse, then last year.

  • How about Boogie Cousins, Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. They are LEGIT because these two are superstars. Cousins has been playing out of his mind and this is the healthy Davis we are accustomed to seeing.

  • Speaking of the celtics, they have built a culture so strong, that even with injuries, Major ones might I add, they continue to play great basketball. I love how Kyrie is playing as a leader on this team as they have won 10 straight. The young guys are growing up fast, and Horford is having a career year. Hats off to Brad Stevens.

  • The Paul George Trade was not as bad as everyone thinks. First off, Victor Oladipo has proven me so wrong. I thought after the embarrassing performance in the playoffs vs the Rockets that he wouldn’t recover. But he has. He is averaging a career high 23 points 5 boards and 4 assists. I love it. Sabonis has been a FORCE on the inside as well. I was dead wrong about this trade.

  • Lonzo isn’t even the best rookie on his team, let alone the best in the NBA. He has been average at best, while his teammate Kyle Kuzma has been averaging 15 and 6 and looks like a future star, while lonzo looks too passive and like I said before the draft, his lack of scoring mentality will hurt him.

  • TRUST THE PROCESS. Embiid looks amazing as we expected if healthy but how about Ben Simmons. Omg, he is unbelievable. He is averaging 17 points 10 boards and 8 assists while playing efficient basketball. He must have really been half-assing it in college because THIS Ben Simmons is a future MVP. ROY Lock.

  • The MVP race looks to be boiling down to 5 players. Harden, Curry, Giannis, Lebron, and Kristaps. I think Harden finally gets his first this year. Playing great basketball.

  • I’m saving the best for last. Who are this Knicks and what have they done with the Knicks I have known my whole life? It all starts with Kristaps. Boy is he special. He is playing on a different level and looks like a Future top 5 NBA player. Role Players are playing great and this team looks like they have a FUTURE.

Man, do I love the NBA

Power rankings NFL mid way through the season

32. Browns: this team might not win a game and it sure as hell will get their coach fired. Hue Jackson is as good as gone and deshone kiser looks farther from the answer at QB.

31. 49ers: just 49ers have been in mostly every game, but do not have the talent to close out in the fourth quarter. They will have a ton of money to revamp this team and nice capital in the draft.

30. Giants: everyone knows how I feel about them. Bad coach, bad QB, bad o-line, bad organization right now.

29. Colts: Brissett has shown some flashes, but this roster has so many flaws.

28. Cardinals: have had ups and downs this year but the season is over now that palmer broke his arm.

27. Bears: they have a very old school formula of winning. Run the ball and play defense. And pass the ball for 4 completions. They are 3-4 though.

26. Bengals: they are better then their record, but something is missing with this football team, especially the offensive line.

25. Ravens: the offense is completely incompetent and joe flacco is having one of the worst years of his career

24. Packers: trade every packers wide receiver in fantasy. Their value is worthless without Rodgers. Especially nelson.

23. Buccaneers: This team has not taken the step everyone thought they would, especially Jameis Winston.

22. Jets: they are not talented, but I love the confidence the defense plays with. They are well coached and confident.

21. Broncos: What happened in the last 2 weeks? Back to back embarrasing losses.

20. Titans: another team that hasn’t progressed like everyone hoped. Lots of holes on this football team.

19. Chargers: team is really talented. Need to learn how to finish ball games.

18. Dolphins: I’m more confident when matt Moore is the QB for this team. Dolphins are a good team though.

17. Bills: the bills are really good at home. Every year.

16. Redskins: the offense is really good despite the fact they don’t throw the the receivers. The defense needs to get healthy.

15. Texans: DESHAUN WATSON

14. Raiders: I have a feeling Derek Carr and the raiders have something ip their sleeves.

13. Falcons: this team and matt Ryan will never recover from the super bowl.

12. Jaguars: this defense is so good that it might carry them to the playoffs. They are the first team since the 84′ bears to have 2 10+ sack games.

11. Lions: they need to bounce back after an embarrasing performance in NO.

10.  Cowboys: this team has underperformed but has super bowl potential. Trust me

9. Vikings: The Jaguars with a more competent coach and QB

8. Saints: this team has really picked it up the last couple weeks and looks like a real contender in the NFC south.

7. Panthers: I believe in cam despite the disappointing performance.

6.  Rams: Todd Gurley and Jared Goffs resurrection have been mind blowing. This team is elite.

5. Seahawks: Defense and Russell Wilson. That’s the formula.

4. Steelers: Ben-Brown-Bell. The three B’s are back.

3. Patriots: starting to look like the team we expected them to be. Offense is really clicking.

2. Chiefs: they have lost 2 straight, but they are still really good. Kareem hunt is a monster.

1. Eagles: fly eagles fly. Carson wentz is legit guys.

Week 6 NFL picks

Dolphins vs Falcons: the Dolphins as a team have taken a big step back this year. Jay cutler has not been good and Ayaji has been inconsistent. The Falcons are coming off a bye, they are home, and they are the better team.

Falcons 28 – dolphins 17     Dolphins +13.5
Packers vs Vikings: the Vikings do not look that good on offense, and it doesn’t help that Stefon diggs is out. Packers are going to win.

Ravens 24 – bears 17         Ravens -6

Why the Giants are a total joke

Coming into the season, the Giants had sky high expectations. Super bowl expectations. But instead, they are a total joke. They are 0-5 and are the worst team in New York and maybe the NFL. Their franchise player got hurt. Everything is falling apart. I’m gonna tell you how we got here.

Going into the year, it was easy to see why everyone was excited for the season. The Giants were coming off an 11-5 season, they brought everyone back, and they added Brandon Marshall and Evan engram. The defense was loaded. Eli had a ton of weapons. So what went wrong? I think it comes down to three things. Poor construction of the roster, play calling and design, and execution. Someone once told me whenever you are designing an NFL roster build from the inside out. Get the QB, offensive line, and defensive line first and work your way out. But the Giants completely ignored that. Despite having a good year last year (arguably because they did have a VERY easy schedule) they regressed heavily on the offensive end. It was Odell or bust, and the o-line was miserable. Instead of addressing it, the front office got cocky and ignorant. They believed Ereck flowers could turn it around because they thought he would be good, despite clearly being a bust. They tried to cover up their mistakes by throwing money at shiny new toys. And it just didn’t work. Of course it didn’t work. They can’t run the ball, eli has no time to throw, and the defense is underperforming because they are on the field all the time. The construction of the team is totally flaud and we all should have seen it coming.

This NFL season has really taught me a lot. The more things Change in the NFL, the more things stay the same. The more we try to get away from running the ball and having dominant lines, the more the evidence points to the fact that it is what works. The Giants thought they were the patriots. Who needs to run the ball, why not just pass it every play. But that doesn’t work. Balance is important. Play design and  cleverness is important. Creativity is important. This helps me get to another point. Ben Mcadoo should be fired today. People will point to the fact that he made the playoffs last year and he should be given more time. But the cold, ugly truth is he is a joke. He isn’t ready. And the truth is the Giants made the playoffs despite him, not because of him. He is supposed to be an offensive minded coach but the offense is getting worse and the creativity within the offense is laughable. I can watch the games on my couch and predict what the plays are. Slant to Odell. Draw to Perkins. CREATIVITY MATTERS. McAdoo was given the credit for fixing eli but it was Odell. Let’s see how McAdoo does without the kid with the yellow hair who got him the job in the first place. He should be fired today. He may be a nice guy, but he is not ready to be a head coach. Or even an OC. And if I hear he needs “to look in the mirror” one more time I’m gonna kill someone. The overall point is offense in the NFL is about creativity and the Giants offense has none. Now to the defense. If you told me before the year that the Giants offense was bad I would’ve believed you. But to say that the defense is worse then the offense. I wouldve laughed. The defense was awesome last year and brought back 10 of the starters. So what has happened? Landon Collins, JPP, and Vernon have all regressed to say the least. Their has been no pass rush, and Eli Apple has been completely exposed for what he is. A bust. Another one for star GM Jerry Reece, who tried to buy his defense instead of drafting well. Ughhh. This whole season has been a complete joke and embarrassment. The roster isn’t good, the coaches can’t develop the players, and the players can’t execute. And to top it off, the only player who gives any sort of hope just had a major injury. So where do we go from here?

To say this year has been a disappointing one would be an understatement. But is there hope? I’m here to say there is. This might be exactly what they need. Eli is on his way out. Maybe this is the year they get the QB of the future. Despite the heartbreak this year has caused, having eli pass the torch to let’s say sam darnold, and not having to wait years for a new QB could be worth a horrible year. Overall, I think the Giants just need a full rebuild. This year has been a huge slap in the face to the organization and the fans. We need a change.

NFL Week 4 picks

Bills vs Falcons: When the bills traded sammy watkins, everyone assumed they were tanking. But they are 2-1, and that defense looks really good. Im picking the Falcons because they are home, but the bills look dangerous.

Falcons 24 – Bills 17          Bills +8

Bengals vs Browns: Both teams suck. The bengals just suck a little less. Dalton looks better under the new OC. Expect a big game from Joe mixon.

Bengals 20 – Browns 16            Bengals -3

Rams vs Cowboys: Sean McVay has tranformed Jared Goff, and saved his career. Same for Todd Gurley. This team isn’t great, but they are sure fun to watch. Sue me if you want but I am picking the Rams.

Rams 27 – Cowboys 26         Rams +6

Lions vs Vikings: Both these teams look legit. Bradford is out, but it didn’t seem to matter last week. I like the vikings.

Vikings 24- lions 21          Vikings -2.5

Panthers vs Patriots: In foxboro and Cam newton is really struggling. Great Offense vs Defense matchup, but the Pats are going to win.

Patriots 30 – Panthers 21            Panthers +9.5

Jaguars vs Jets: I know by now not to trust the Jaguars coming off a nice win in London. The jets will win their second straight game. Can’t believe I’m saying this.

Jets 19 – Jaguars 16       Jets +4

Steelers vs Ravens: The steelers do not play well on the road. The ravens were embarrassed last week. Ravens all day.

Ravens 26 – Steelers 23           Ravens +3

Titans vs Texans: Deshaun Watson is REALLY good.

Texans 31 – Titans 27                  Texans +2.5

49ers vs Cardinals: Idk man, I guess the home team?

Cardinals 24 – 49ers 20          49ers +6.5

Giants vs Bucs: The first win has to come. PLEASE. I can’t have another heartbreaker.

Giants 30- Bucs 26          Giants+2.5

Eagles vs Chargers: The eagles are too good for this Banged up (every year) chargers.

Eagles 26 – Chargers 20           Eagles +2.0

Raiders vs Broncos: both teams are coming off of disappointing losses. It’s close, but I think Derek Carr and the Raiders have the guts to go into Mile High and steal one.

Raiders 28 – Broncos 24       Raiders +3.5
